Gardenias (Gardenia jasminoides) are evergreen shrubs prized for their glossy green leaves and intensely fragrant, creamy-white flowers. Native to tropical and subtropical Asia, they thrive in warm, humid environments and are popular both as garden plants and indoor specimens.

• Prefer bright, indirect light (e.g., east or south-facing windows).
• Avoid direct midday sun, which can scorch leaves, and ensure adequate light to promote blooming.

• Keep soil consistently moist but well-drained. Use lukewarm water to avoid root shock.
• Reduce watering in winter. Overwatering leads to root rot.

• Acidic, well-draining soil (pH 5.0–6.5). Use peat-based mixes or amend with sulfur.
• Mulch to retain moisture and regulate soil temperature.

• High humidity (50–60%) is crucial. Mist regularly, use a humidifier, or place on a pebble tray.
